My Heart Is Breaking

I’ve been sitting in a chair now for forty-three hours, not counting the 5 hours that I drove forty-five minutes home to take a shower, a nap, and then drive back. I also didn’t count the hours that I’ve spent pacing the hospital floors.

Just the chair time; forty-three hours (probably more by the time you read this).

It could be worse. The Girl Child has been in the hospital for much longer than the three days that we are currently at now, but honestly, this time is breaking my heart.

I hope this surgery was the right thing to do.

I’ve never seen her in so much pain, in my entire life.

So much pain that she is being nourished and hydrated almost entirely by IV. So much pain that when she sleeps, she holds her breath, her oxygen drops, her heart begins to race, and she wakes up in a panic.

She isn’t sleeping much, so neither am I.

I’m really tired; physically and emotionally, but she is my first concern.

Please pray for her.

Hang in there, Eden. There's nothing harder than watching your child struggle and be in pain, and not being able to do anything about it. *hugs*

there is nothing harder than being a parent to a sick child. the feeling of helplessness and did i do the right thing. being alienated from your family may be a good thing and here's why. my wifes family tried to blame my daughters illness on me, like i was smarter than the 13 doctors she had. instead of supporting us, they used it as a cover to attempt to take custody! instead of supporting me they added to my stress. i will pray for you both. i'm sure you did the right thing.

My sympathies to all of you, Eden! Hospitals are never fun places to be, especially when you're worried about someone, and even more especially when that someone is your child. May the Lord comfort you and give you peace.

Eden Strong

My husband said he was going to the store... and never came back. It's been a crazy life that's left me functional enough to survive yet dysfunctional enough to make me funny. I'm living my life devoid of most social graces while single parenting two young children and I absolutely love it....most days.
